Aeroseal Duct Sealing

In a recent survey, over 74% of commissioning professionals agreed that buildings have significant duct leakage. The building commissioning association has quantified duct leakage as a $2.9B problem. Aeroseal is the technology that can help you solve that problem through aerosolized sealant and a computerized process.

Aeroseal is a technology developed by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory with funding from US Department of Energy specifically to seal air leakage in ductwork and improve energy effiecncy in buildings. It has been used for more than 20 years to seal ducts from the inside.

Aeroseal Formula Facts

Material

Made from Vinyl Acetate polymer that is also used in various types of glue and in chewing gum.

Safety

The current formula is considered nontoxic. It's certified by OSHA, UL, & FDA.

Usage

The formula is used to seal leakage efficiently up to 5/8". Larger gaps in ducts can be identified by the traces of the sealant as it solidifies on the edges but it won't be sealed.

Compatibility

Aeroseal efficiently seals any ductwork. There is no identified ductwork material or shape that will prevent the sealant from doing its job.

Durability

Current simulation testing predicts that the sealant would effectively last for 40+ years without any issues.
